Following our recent Company news, it is exciting to see, not only signs of Spring all around in shoots of new growth, but a very definite light at the end of this long, particular tunnel. The sense of building optimism is becoming almost palpable. And it feels good. It’s been a long time coming.
Here at Sutherland Independent, through changing seasons, we are buoyant but focussed!
Our eye remains on the day job – delivering what we do best ..and it is very much ‘business as usual’!
Our sustainable approach develops further
In the past year, sustainability has been the major topic dominating our thinking, most especially, in terms of investing.
The wisdom of this strategy was confirmed by our survey of a large sample of our clients in the autumn, when we found extremely strong interest in sustainable investments.
In fact, 85% of those we spoke to agreed that they would like to see part of their portfolio sustainably invested in companies with positive social and environmental impact.
Since then, we have been actively evolving and changing our investment propositions to reflect this demand. This is just the beginning and we continue to work on expanding our sustainable investment provisions whilst balancing the ongoing importance of controlled risk and capital growth. And we could hardly offer sustainable investments without leading by example. Our application for Certified B Status is in its final stages and we look forward to receiving this accreditation any day now.
‘Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose and aim to accelerate a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy’
Why not continue the sustainability conversation with us and perhaps have a ‘spring clean’ of your finances? We’re always available to chat through any questions you may have.
Please keep looking out for scams
On a slightly less cheerful note, we must also give a word of warning, regarding possible scam emails and calls that have been doing the rounds recently.
Fraudsters are contacting clients of some investment firms, purporting to be either from the financial regulator (FCA) or from HMRC. They make bogus claims that either the client is about to be arrested due to a potential fraudulent action or that the client’s investment firm is under investigation, urging them to keep this information confidential, and not to contact their adviser about the matter.
They then advise the client to encash their investment portfolio and transfer funds to them, offering to invest it in their own investment schemes – which are, of course, a scam.
If you come across anything like this, then please contact us in the first instance. You can check a full list of known fraudulent operators on the warning list on the regulator’s website where further advice on such investment scams is also available.
As we enter this season of renewal and growth, we look forward to seeing you very soon and to making 2021 another great year for your overall financial planning!
